Version 1.0, October 21, 2026
ARaura Augmented Reality Fashion Corp (“ARaura,” “we,” “us”), a corporation registered in Quebec, Canada.
1. What this notice is
Faes AR is desktop software that places digital costumes, masks, effects, and backgrounds onto your live webcam feed. To place them, the Faes AR desktop application (“the Application”) must track the face, hands, and body of the person in front of the camera.
Some laws treat measurements of face or hand geometry as biometric data, even when no one is identified. One of them is the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”). These laws require a separate written notice and consent before processing begins. This is that notice.
This notice is separate from the Faes AR End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”). You accept it with its own checkbox, before you install the Application.
2. Who gives consent
Only an account holder can accept this notice. An account holder is the person who accepts the EULA and holds the Faes AR account. An account holder must have reached the age of majority where they live.
An account holder may allow their child, or a minor for whom they are the legal guardian, to use their copy of the Application if that person is 14 or older. No one under 14 may use the Application.
If you allow a minor to use your copy:
you give this consent on their behalf, as their parent or legal guardian;
you confirm that you have the legal authority to do so;
you agree to show them this notice before they first use the Application; and
you are responsible for their use of the Application.
ARaura does not ask minors for consent and does not accept consent from them.
3. What the Application processes
The Application uses MediaPipe, open-source software published by Google, to track the person in front of your camera. Depending on the effects you use, it may calculate:
face landmarks: points that describe where the features of a face sit, such as the jawline, eyes, irises (the coloured part of the eye), nose, and mouth;
hand landmarks: points that describe the position of the hands and fingers;
body pose landmarks: points that describe the position of the head, shoulders, arms, and other parts of the body; and
segmentation masks: an outline that separates a person from their background.
In this notice, all of these are called “tracking data.” Tracking data is a set of numbers that describes positions and shapes in a single video frame.
Tracking data is not a faceprint or handprint, which is a stored pattern used to recognise a person. The Application does not perform facial recognition, authentication, or any other identity matching. It cannot tell who a person is. It can only tell where they are in the frame.
Other people on camera. The Application tracks one person at a time. If someone else comes into view, it may switch to tracking them, under the same rules. You agree to tell anyone you expect to appear on camera that tracking is on.
4. Why the Application processes tracking data
The Application uses tracking data for one purpose: to position, scale, and move digital overlays and effects so they follow the person on your webcam feed.
Tracking data is not used to identify anyone, to track behaviour, for advertising, for analytics, or to train any artificial intelligence or machine learning system. ARaura does not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from it. We never receive it.
5. Where processing happens
All tracking happens on your computer. The Application does not send tracking data to ARaura, to Google, or to anyone else. It does not save tracking data to send later.
6. How long tracking data exists, and when it is destroyed
The Application holds tracking data only in your computer’s working memory (RAM), and only while the camera feed is running. Each new video frame replaces it. It is discarded when the camera feed stops or the Application closes.
The Application does not write tracking data to disk, to a log, to a crash report, or to any other file.
Because ARaura never receives tracking data, we hold none to retain or destroy. This section is ARaura’s retention schedule and destruction policy for biometric data. It is publicly available at https://faes.ar/legal/biometric-notice.
7. Who can access tracking data
Only the Application, running on your computer. ARaura cannot access it. We do not disclose it to anyone, because we never receive it.
8. Accepting, declining, and withdrawing
Tracking is part of how the Application works. Accepting this notice is required to install it.
If you do not accept, do not install the Application. Request a refund through the store where you purchased it. If the store does not refund you, contact us at support@faes.ar.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by uninstalling the Application. To withdraw consent for a minor who uses your copy, stop their use of it. Tracking stops when the Application closes. No tracking data remains, so there is nothing to delete.
ARaura holds no tracking data about you or anyone using your copy. There is none for us to provide, correct, or delete on request.
ARaura keeps a record that you accepted this notice: your account, the version you accepted, and the date and time. That record contains no tracking data.
9. Changes to this notice
If we change how the Application processes tracking data in a way this notice does not describe, the change will not apply to your copy until you accept an updated notice. This includes a new kind of tracking, a new purpose, or sending tracking data off your computer.
We may update other parts of this notice, such as contact details, without asking for new consent.
